Our Story

The year was 2012. The place: Philadelphia. What was once thought to be a bad bagel was in fact a newly developed intolerance to the dread molecule, gluten! Our intrepid hero felt defeated. Would he never savor the taste of a delicious bao ever again? But salvation was at hand! Behold, the Goddess of Baking (aka his wife), would spend years developing gluten free versions of his favorite foods until she discovered the secret to the perfect gluten free bao bun! And thus was born The Gluten Free Bao Company!

Today, we are proud to re-introduce this Taiwanese street food to a new audience. Our hand-made baos are light, fluffy, and slightly sweet, just like traditional baos. Best of all they are made entirely with gluten free ingredients, so those with gluten sensitivities can now enjoy the authentic taste of this Asian delicacy! Welcome to The Gluten Free Bao Company!
