Why are you only available in New York State?

We are a small startup company operating under New York State’s Home Processor Exemption which allows New York residents to sell certain products out of their home kitchen. Normally such items require production in a commercial kitchen for sale to the public. However, because this is an exemption specific to New York State, sales are also restricted to within New York. We do have plans to expand to a commercial kitchen in the future which will allow us to sell nationwide, so please stay tuned!

 

Are your baos really gluten free? 

Our baos are made using only gluten free ingredients and meet the FDA requirements for labeling as Gluten Free. While we are not a certified gluten free kitchen, we do produce our baos on equipment solely dedicated to processing gluten free products.

 

Are your baos dairy free or vegan?

Our gluten free baos do contain milk products, so they are neither dairy free nor vegan.

What is the best way to eat a bao? 

Any way! Though traditionally filled with Asian flavors such as stewed meats and pickled vegetables, bao buns are perfect for any type of filling and any type of cuisine! They are excellent with fried chicken, burgers, bacon and eggs, tuna salad, sautéed mushrooms, etc. See our Recipes page for suggestions! What is the shelf life of your baos? 

Our gluten free buns are shelf stable for up to a week. However, to maximize their shelf life, we recommend you store our baos in the freezer immediately upon receipt. Our gluten free baos can be frozen and thawed without affecting their flavor or texture.

 

How are your baos packaged? 

Our baos are bagged in multiples of 6 and shipped in rigid cardboard boxes to prevent squishing in transit. If by some chance your order is damaged in transit, let us know and we will replace your order. 


Do you accept returns? 

Due to the perishable nature of the product, we are not able to accept returns. However, if you do believe something is wrong with the baos you received, please contact us by replying to your order confirmation, or through the form at the bottom of this page and we will make things right.
