Our gluten free baos are perfect for any type of taco filling. To save time, you can use any premixed taco seasoning packet, but this particular recipe is inspired by a popular fast food chain.
Level: Easy
Total time: 30 minutes
Yield: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 8 Gluten Free Bao Company buns
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup water or beef broth
- 1 tablespoon oat flour (can also use gluten free quick oats ground in a food processor or spice grinder)
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon lime juice or apple cider vinegar
- shredded lettuce
- shredded cheddar cheese
Directions:
- Heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Add ground beef and brown, breaking apart the meat with a spatula as it cooks until no pink remains, about 10 minutes.
- Add chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, paprika, sugar, salt, pepper, and tomato paste. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes.
- Add water and oat flour. Stir until most of the liquid has been absorbed.
- Remove from heat and stir in lime juice or apple cider vinegar.
- Steam Gluten Free Bao Company buns per instructions on package.
- Spoon mixture into the buns, top with shredded lettuce and cheese. Drizzle with your favorite hot sauce, if desired, and serve!
To minimize mess, eat the taco baos with the filling pointed upwards, not to the side!
